Cruzeiro are BRAZIL CHAMPIONS! |
| With two rounds still to play, Cruzeiro are the champions of Brazil! After beating Paysandu at home, their lead increased to unreachable 9 points. Santos in the second place has secured the spot in the Libertadores cup for the next season, while Sao Paolo is very close to it. Sao Caetano, Coritiba and Internacional will fight for the remaining spot till the last round. The battle to avoid relegation will also be very intense. The teams that are still in danger of relegation are: Fluminense, Paysandu, Fortaleza, Ponte Preta, Gremio and Bahia. |

| In the round 39 of the Brasileiro, Cruzeiro managed to beat Figuierense at home by 1:0 after two consecutive defeats. Santos continued its magnificient run by trashing third placed Coritiba 4:0 away from home. |

Dramatic finish to the Brasileiro ahead |
| With a new defeat against Internacional, Cruzeiro put their claim for the title under serious threat. Santos continued to close down the gap with amazing 7:4 victory away to Bahia. Fluminense is now on equal points as Bahia on 22nd place with a victory over Corinthians. Gremio looks like they might escape the relegation too, this week they have beaten Juventude by 2:1 away from home. |

| Brasileiro may not be decided afterall. The leaders Cruzeiro lost home to Juventude, while Santos won against Atletico Paranaense, which cut the Cruzeiro lead to 9 points with 9 matches to play. |

Cruzeiro extends their lead again |
| Cruzeiro again extended their lead after 36 rounds in Brasileiro. They defeated Atletico Mineiro away from home thanks to goal by Mota. Other top teams were not so successful. Santos drew against Sao Caetano, while Coritiba lost to Atletico Paranaense. This leaves Cruzeiro at the top with 12 points advantage with 10 matches to play. |

Cruzeiro close to the Brasileiro title |
| As most of its opponents lost points in the midweek games, Cruzeiro got even closer to the Brasileiro title by beating Flamengo by 2:0. Santos only managed a draw at home to Guarani, while Sao Paolo was beaten by Bahia by 3:0. Among other top teams only Coritiba and Atletico Mineiro won their respective games in 35th round. |

Cruzeiro beats Santos |
| Cruzeiro achieved an important victory over their arch rivals Santos in a match between 1st and 2nd placed team in the Brasileiro. Columbian striker Aristizabal scored 2 goals for Cruzeiro. There were no big surprises this weekend, except Sao Caetano losing at home to Figuierense and Bahia's comfortable victory over disappointing Vasco da Gama.

| Two leaders will meet this weekend in a match that will decide who will take the lead after 31 rounds. However, the match will not be decisive for the championship, since
the loser will have full 15 rounds to regain the points lost in the derby. But the winner of this interesting match will surely get a psychological boost for its title hopes. Another interesting match will be between 3rd placed Sao Paolo and 5th placed Atletico Mineiro at the Morumbi stadium in Sao Paolo. |

| Although fighting for the title, most of the Brazilian top teams have sold their best players in a desperate search for money. Cruzeiro sold their best scorer Deivid to French club Bordeaux, Santos striker Ricardo Oliveira joined Spanish giants Valencia and Sao Paolo creative midfielder Kaka went to AC Milan. Santos is still negotiating with English club Tottenham about the fee for one of Brazilian best prospects, 18-year old midfielder Diego. |

Confederations Cup influences Brasileiro |
| Brazilian National Team coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has called several players from Brazilian clubs to play in the Confederations Cup for Brazil. The players are:
Fabio (GK, Vasco), Julio Cesar (GK, Flamengo), Maurinho, Edu Dracena (DEF, Cruzeiro), Kleber, Fabio Luciano (DEF, Corinthians), Dudu (MID, Vitoria), Kleberson, Adriano (MID, Atletico PR), Ricardinho (MID, Sao Paolo), Alex (MID, Cruzeiro), Luis Fabiano (FOR, Sao Paolo), Gil (FOR, Corinthians), Ilan (FOR, Atletico PR).
Brazilian championship will not be stopped during the Confederations Cup, thus many teams will surely miss some players, specially teams, who contributed three players to the National Team (Corinthians, Cruzeiro and Atletico PR). Confederations Cup will start on 18th of June, Brazil plays its first round matches on 19th, 21st and 23rd of June.

| Corinthians striker Liedson scored all 4 goals when Corinthians defeated Vitoria by 4:0 in Week 11. Parana Clube crushed Flamengo by devastating 6:2. Parana is now 5th on the table and is considered the most pleasent surprise of the Brazileiro so far. Cruzeiro and Internacional both won their home games to stay on top of the table. In the most interesting game of the week, Santos defeated Sao Paolo by 3:2 and Santos 18-year prodigy Diego scored his first goal of the tournament. Fortaleza, Bahia and Figueirense collected important victories in their cruise to avoid relegation. Sao Paolo striker Luis Fabiano is now top of the scorers table with 11 goals, after scoring a goal against Santos. |

Cruzeiro draws the game, but stays top of the table |
Cruzeiro managed only a draw at home against Libertadores-shaken Corinthians in the most important game of Week 9, but stayed top of the table since Internacional was held to a draw at home against Atletico Paranaense as well. Sao Paolo gained some positions with 2:0 victory over Parana and is now 4th of the table behind Cruzeiro, Internacional and Santos. |

Santos loses derby and Ricardo Oliveira |
Santos lost the derby against mighty Cruzeiro at home by 2:0. But luck was not on Santos side as their main center forward Ricardo Oliveira suffered an injury and is expected to be out of action for at least one month. Cruzeiro now leads the table with 20 points, second is Internacional with 18. They are followed by Santos, Atletico Mineiro and surprisingly, Parana Clube which have 14 points. |

Derby ends in a draw |
| Derby between Corinthians and Flamengo ended in a 1:1 draw. Goais crushed Juventude with huge 7:0 to achieve their first (!) win of the Brasileiro. Atletico PR came back from 0:2 to a 5:2 victory against Criciuma and Fluminense finally showed signs of reawakening by defeating Gremio away from home. In the last two games of Week 6, Paysandu defeated Sao Paolo 5:2 with the hat-trick from striker Robson, while Vasco achieved a much needed win over Sao Caetano thanks to the first minute strike from Marques. |

| Internacional achieved a stunning 0:3 win against Vitoria and returned to the top of the Brasileiro table, thanks to slips from previous leaders Atletico MG and Cruzeiro. Atletico MG lost 1:2 at home against Coritiba, while Cruzeiro managed a 1:1 draw against Guarani. Striker Deivid was again on the scoresheet for Cruzeiro, which makes him top of the scorers list with 9 goals in 6 matches. |

Both games were very exciting, Cruzeiro won thanks to a late goal from Aristizabal, while Guarani came from 3:1 to 3:2 in the last minute, but ran out of time to equalize. | Among teams, that have been considered favourites to win the championship only Atletico Mineiro was able to win against Corinthians away from home. Last year champions Santos were held to a draw by Parana Clube, who was already leading 0:2, but Robinho and Nene equalised for Santos. Other favourites like Sao Paolo, Fluminense and Vasco da Gama were also unable to win their opening games. |
